Alexandra Collas, Elena Diaz, & Susanne Kwon
Alexandra is a firm believer that it is from the body that we can quiet our minds, let new information in and become more creative. It is from movement that we can grow to live more rewarding and fulfilling experiences. Her vision is to empower and strengthen people’s potential through dance and movement. Alexandra teaches NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action), an energetic movement technique that integrates dance, healing and martial arts. She will also facilitate ecstatic dance, Dance Our Way Home tm, a nourishing dance journey that opens a space to explore self and community. DOWH draws from ecstatic dance, five rhythms, authentic movement and women based practices that support the feminine expression. It is a deep healing and revitalizing expressive practice.
Elena Diez is a qualified Zumba instructor. Her innovation is Zumba Chill, fusing rhythms of Zumba with Yoga. She was born in Spain and musica latina is in her blood. She taught Zumba in Europe and now she has moved to Toronto and can’t wait for more. She was hooked the first time she tried Zumba and decided to become an instructor. Zumba is fun, gets you in shape, releases stress and works the mind. Her common interest of yoga led her to introduce elements of breathing and relaxation into her Zumba class. She looks forward to meeting you, having a great time and teaching you some very cool moves. Stop by and join the fun!
Susanne is a native Torontonian, born and raised downtown. As such, she is very fortunate to have been exposed to Toronto’s singular culture and nightlife, which was extremely fertile and vibrant in the 1990s and 2000′s. She had ready access to nightclubs, raves and warehouse parties where she fell in love with street dance and culture.
Then she attended her first hip-hop dance class in 1999, and has never looked back!.. She has since branched out to House, breakdance, and other forms of street dance.
Susanne started practicing yoga around 2009; like many souls she had reached a
crossroads in life, and yoga offered a unique respite – an irresistible combination
of breathing, meditation, flexibility and focus, which she finds naturally
complements her dancing
And then…it is the Age of Awakening
On the Night of Shiva, as creation awaited,
the drum sounded and music awoke the vast silence with the vibration of om
and brought the universe into existence
And the dance begins…
The primal energy infuses everything and nature awakens
flowers bloom, waterfalls tumble into immense canyons,
and the animals evolve as consciousness races back to its source
The dance begins
Dance never ends
(Excerpt from The Dance of Shiva by Paresh)
“The source of all movement,
Gives rhythm to the universe.
He dances in evil places,
He creates and preserves,
Destroys and releases.
We are part of this dance
This eternal rhythm,
And woe to us if, blinded
We detach ourselves
From the dancing cosmos,
This universal harmony…”
Do you dance for freedom, dance for love,
Dance for the earth and the skies above?
Do you Dance for sunshine, dance for rain?
Dance for healing from all the pain? Then come back to your tribe, and dance again.
Dance with your tribe my love
